Fifteen minutes later, Emma opened the door of her new hotel room, allowing the Gems and Robert to come inside. The room featured a table with two cloth-cushioned chairs, a large bed, and a safe. A large window near the table overlooked downtown Reno, with all its sparkling and flashy lights beckoning gamblers to come out and lose lots of money.

“It’s a shame you couldn’t get us two rooms, love.” Olivia flopped in one of the chairs.

“But we have one,” Miyuki said. “And it has refrigerator and safe too. Think of tonight like slumber party, but with cute boy.” Miyuki checked to see if Robert heard, but he was staring at Reno through the window.

“We’ll make do. Shall we call Mrs. B now?” Nadia asked.

Olivia reluctantly nodded.

“Do you still have your satellite phone on you, Emma?” Nadia asked.

“Yeah, but I need to charge it because it’s almost dead.”

“That’s alright. I’ll use my laptop instead.”

Miyuki grabbed Emma’s hand. “Would you like to go to the casino?”

“You have to be twenty-one to gamble,” Olivia said, acting like that strict teacher you want to flip off.

“I only want to look around. No money for gambling anyway. I spent all mine on munchies.”

“As long as we act mature, I’m sure they won’t bother us in the casino,” Emma said. “I’m in.”

Robert turned from the window. “May I come with you?”

“Absolutely not,” Olivia said. “You stay here.”

“He’ll be safe with us,” Miyuki said.

“We’ll watch him like two momma hawks,” Emma added.

“Aw, that’s cute, Emma.”

“He’s a fugitive wanted by the FBI and US government,” Olivia said. “You can’t parade him around a casino.”

“I have loaded all the visual details of the men who attempted to kidnap me into my database. By using my long-range detection system, I should be able to scan the casino discreetly for their presence. I suggest we do this as a precaution, just in case we have been followed or tracked here. It will give us an advantage if we do detect them first.”

“Sounds like he can detect those Russians better than we can,” Emma said.

Olivia nodded. “That’s a good idea, Robert. Alright then, you three go check out the casino. If you detect anyone who even looks suspicious, then come back to the room and report.”
